AIDS in Northern Province

Agnes Kafula-AIDS patient

Agnes' Testimony

I live in MuSenga township. I am 54 years old. While I was staying with my husband, my husband died. After my husband died, I started experiencing some fever and some headache. After experiencing all this, I went to the hospital. They advised me to go the VCT(volunteer counseling & treatment) and I took a test. It was HIV positive and they encouraged me that you should not be worried about this. They encouraged me that you should not get married. You should even stop drinking beer b/c in that way you may start again with some sexual immoralities. After that, I was invited to go to DAPP school. I learned how to keep myself and my family. They even told us the type of food to eat to help our body. After I learnt of this, I know how to keep myself, and at least I’m living.
Q: Do you go to church?
A: I go to Roman Catholic church.
Q: In your lifetime, have you received Christ as your personal Savior.
A: At night I was asleep, I dreamed a person talking to me that you should not be worried. You know how to read, you should take the Bible and start reading. Then again I respond, and I said, if I read the Bible, what is going to happen? And then he said, if you read the Bible, the problems you have, the Bible will explain to you how you can deal with the problems you are facing. Up to now, I just put my faith in Christ, if any problems come to me, I just take the Bible, kneel down and start to pray.
Q: How are you staying with your family?
A: At least we are trying.
Q: Have you shared with the church members about this?
A: Yes.
Pray for Agnes and her family as they suffer with AIDS.
