CET Prayer Letters:

CET News Letter:September 2009

We had been praying for our speaking engagement in MIBANSE FELLOWSHIP BAPTIST ASSOCIATION AGM, located in Serenje, which was held from August 20-23. The drive was roughly 6 hours and around 450km. We arrived and they welcomed us in a very special way. It was too much for us to accept that kind of respect, but we honor their culture by accepting it with gratefulness. We were so amazed and encouraged by their gathering. Out in the deep bush, people gathered, rallying over 600 Baptist members. For the gathering they built their shelters and kitchens.

Every woman and child was busy doing many things such as drawing water from a river near the gathering place. Men collected fire woods which were used for cooking, to heat bath water, and also to make tea. They were exited to learn the Biblical truth, they endured the scolding heat from the sun and slept in the cold of night on the ground with just dried grass for mats and one tiny blanket for warmth. The Mibanse area is one of the coldest places around, the temperature plummeting down to 40 degrees at night

I thank God for answering my prayer regarding the proficiency of cibemba.  Even though their heart language is ciLaLa, we were able to communicate with them in ciBemba because ciLala is very similar to ciBemba.  I taught, preached, and sung songs, even with tears in my eyes and with a broken heart. When the meeting was over, my voice was gone and sore, but it was worth it. I thank God that he gave me the ability to communicate with the group of men and women of that area.

After we attended the Mibanse Fellowship AGM, the leader of the Mibanse Baptist Association asked me to come and lead a seminar on Leadership, so I accepted their request. They also asked me to come to their Bible School and teach some classes. I also accepted this proposal.  I will go and teach in the future because I can see their needs, and also teaching is one of my strong gifts.

Pray that we will train our leaders to be strong leaders, especially those who are hungry to reach out to lost people and to teach new members. And also pray for our ministry, that it will encourage our church leaders to become strong godly leaders.
Prayer Requests:
1. Starting August, we do evangelism, evangelistic Bible study in Kamatipa village.  Pray that we will have a good number of new believers who join our Evangelistic Bible study.
2. Pray for our acquisition of the ciBemba language.  Our ministry of word of God will penetrated not only their thought but also their hearts so that they could experience God our almighty.
3. Pray for Aaron and Enoch for their new semester.
4. Pray for our September ministry schedules: Grace’s women’s ministry, the Bible school in Lufwanyama Zone I in Kanynage, and our True Love Wait program in a SB Secondary school.
5. Pray for our security guard situation.  We have some problems with one guard.  Please pray that we will be able to hire a trustworthy person.

August 2009
We have been praying, teaching, training, and encouraging our   Church pastors and leaders to grasp the vision of reaching out to their communities. This is accomplished through the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ using the ciBemba Roman Road Gospel Tract and the building of Indigenes New Testament Churches in their area, especially in rural areas. At this time, I have been told by many pastors and leaders that they carry a burden to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ everywhere they go. In result of that burden, many people have received Jesus Christ.  For instance, Ba Ingambi, pastor of M Fellowship Baptist Church, has gone to four new areas and has won many people to the Lord. Every Tuesday and Friday he leads a follow up home Bible study. Also Pastor Justin has been sharing the Gospel using the ciBemba Roman Road Gospel track and has won some souls in the K area and has also started a home Bible Study for every week and he has been very excited with what has been happening in his ministry.
God has given me the opportunity to pour my energy and focus on these pastors and leaders, teaching theology. I (Daniel Kim) have taught many hours of theological education through seminars and TEE (Theological Education by Extension) in their theological knowledge level for last 8 years.  Until this year, 2009, I had not seen their spiritual growth or that they understood everything I had taught them, so I was really disappointed and had been struggling.  But coming back from this last Bible School, I could see that they were just bigining to understand and were getting excited about sharing Jesus. They began to know the Bible deeply and to learn Theology at the Bible School.
Now without hesitation, they could answer theological questions such as assurance of salvation, sin, heaven and hell, the Trinity, the difference between being filled with the Holy Spirit , gifts of the Holy Spirit, seal of the Holy Spirit, witness of the Holy Sprit, indwelling of the Holy Spirit,  baptism of the Holy Sprit, fruit of the Holy Spirit, renewing of the Holy Spirit, etc. I am very happy that they finally understood many theological differences.
They were very happy to learn the Bible truth that they, under the hot sun, sit on a tree branch and/or clay benches for over 13 hours a day and sleep on the ground with just dried grass for mats. It was very, very cold at night, but we didn't hear any complaints from any of them. They were just happy to be there to learn.
We had surveyed the Kamatipa area about one year ago. The population of Kamatipa is around 5000, but we don’t have any Fellowship Baptist churches in that area. One of our Kawama Baptist leaders lives in Kamatipa village hosts an on going Bible Study every Saturday.  Starting August 4th, we will visit the Kamatipa area with him participate in door to door evangelism, T4T,  and Stroying and through this we want to start some more home bible study groups.  We pray that in the future we will have Fellowship Baptist Churches in the Kamatipa area.
During our last stateside assignment, we visited New Song  Church in Texas and shared our testimony, and through this, one cell group by the name of Zambia has been started at that very church. They have already begun praying for Zambia and are meeting monthly to fellowship and encourage one another and to work with us spiritually and physically.
Prayer Requests
1. In September, we want to be working in the Kamatipa village to do Evangelism, T4T and Storing and Evangelistic Bible Study. Pray that we will have a good number of new believers that join our Evangelistic Bible Study.
2. Please pray for our next speaking and Seminar engagement at the mibanse Baptist Fellowship Association.  I will be preaching  at the Annual General Meeting and each night I will be leading seminar sessions. So pray that they will be encouraged and recharged by the word of God.
3. Pray for Grace’s teaching ministry to women and young adults.
4.  Pray for Aaron that he will have a good time with us and his ministry at the Mibanse Baptist Association and also pray that Aaron will have a safe journey back to the USA on the 28th of August.
5. Pray for Grace that she will not miss Aaron too much after he leaves for the USA.
6. Pray for our Baptist leader’s health: In our ministry area, especially Lufwanyama area, our pastors have been going through a lot of hardship. Pastor Aaron M s wife, Jennifer M , died on July 23 and now he is going through great stages of grief. Pastor Loti M  has been experiencing pain in both his legs, and Pastor K has been feeling powerless. Pastor Justine K has just recovered from his injured hip.

COPPERBELT EVANGELISM MONTHLY TEAM NEWS
July , 2009

I. COPPERBELT EVANGELISM TEAM REPORT
The months of June and July were busy but fruitful, and joyful because we have Aaron with us. Preparing Bible School Lessons in ciBemba were consuming a lot of hours but it was very rewarding and a time of learning.
The Kanyange Bible School is about 120 km from our house with terrible road conditions. The Kanyange Association has six Fellowship Baptist Churches. From June 24 - 26th, the first term of Kanyange Bible School went very well. The 6 pastors and 13 lay leaders came from the local area.
Grace taught seven wives of pastors and leaders for 3 hours on the Fruit of Spirit, and Aaron taught 2 hours of English each day.
II. WE PRAISE GOD FOR ;
1. The second Bible School that has been opened in the Kanyange area. They have 6 churches and only one of the pastors have ever been in Bible School or a Theological Education. Therefore, they were very excited to have their own Theological School and to have a school with their own tongue.
2. The student’s hunger for the word of God , humbleness and flexibility to situations. At night, the temperature went down to 40-50 degrees and they slept on the ground with just dried grass for near a fire. They sat on clay benches and small tree branches all day long but were very eager.
3.That God uses our family members in His mission work in His people.
Aaron was very exited about what he had done at the Kanyange Bible School, and I praise God for using our family as His servants.
When Aaron taught ESL and gospel songs, Grace translated for the women. They were very happy to learn English, but I was even happier when I saw God using our family for His glory. PTL

III. PLEASE PRAY FOR...
1. Starting August, we want to do Evangelism, T4T and Storing at the KAMATIPA.
2. Our station visit to the Mongu area, that we will have good fellowship with Gerri and Melissa on July 20-21, 2009
3. Bible School in Fikundulu Area on July 29-31. Pray that they will come on-time.
3. Daniel’s speaking engagement and teaching ministry at Mibanse Fellowship Baptist Association AGM on the 13th to 16th of August, 2009.
4. Grace’s teaching ministry at Fikundulu Bible School. She will be teaching the “Fruit of the Spirit” in their own language, ciBemba.
5. Pray for Aaron that he will have a good time with us and in his ministry at the Fikundulu Bible School; Again, he will teach ESL to wives of leaders with Grace.
6. Continue to pray for our leader’s health: Pastor Justine Kamusaki, Lottie Mukabiko , Muwape Zimba, Gideon, Kakwesha, and pastor Mutenge.

COPPERBELT   EVANGELISM  TEAM  MONTHLY   news (June 2009)

I. COPPERBELT EVANGELISM TEAM REPORT

The month of May was extremely busy for us because we had just come back from our six month STAS. We were busy unpacking things, rearranging the furniture, re-shelving books, setting up the office, preparing rooms, and at the same time, we had been preparing for the first term for the Fikundulu Bible school. The Fikundulu Bible School is only about 150 km from our house, but the road conditions is terrible, it took two and a half hours for us to get there.  From June 3-5th, the first term of Fikundulu Bible School went very well.  Three pastors and six leaders registered from the local area.

They were very excited to learn the Biblical truth that they spent only 15 minutes for breakfast, 30 minutes for lunch, 30 minutes for dinner, and 7 hours for sleeping. For the rest of time, they had been sitting on clay benches and small tree branches. I was encouraged by their eagerness and patience to learn Biblical principles and truth. The school didn't meet at a real school. It was held in a church building, with mud bricks to sit on and their own knee's to write on. They slept on the ground with just dried grass for mats. It was very cold at night. But we didn't hear any complaints from any of them. They were just happy to be there to learn.

I taught Spiritual formation, Personal Evangelism and New Testament Church, Christian Ceremony, and Principle of Teaching. Grace taught wives of pastors and leaders for 3 hours on the Fruit of Spirit and 2 hours of English every day.

II. WE PRAISE FOR STARTING FIKUNDULU BIBLE SCHOOL

It was tiresome work to come and go on that terrible road, but we were happy to do what we were doing, teach, teach, and teach. We didn’t do anything other than teach.  For the rest of the time, we were together at the feet of Jesus Christ.  On the last Sunday of May, we were going to a church deep in the bush, passage on a terrible road, and on the way we saw two men cycling and they turned out to be a pastor and a leader of a church in Fikundulu. We were so happy see them on the road. We found out that they were heading  for Fikundulu Bible School. One pastor was in Kitwe because he needed treatment for his stroke, but non the less, he was cycling in bad health condition for total of 9 hours in that journey. The other leader had moved to Kalulushi last January for the new position, but he had requested permission from his boss to just to attend the school. I was so encourage by their determination and eagerness to learn.

III. WE ALSO PRAISE GOD FOR ENOCH AND AARON

Aaron came home on the 8th of June.  He had just finished his short term mission’s trip with his school. He traveled from California Baptist University to Rwanda to teach ESL at NUR, National University of Rwanda. He was so exited about what he had done in that country and told us how much God changed him through this mission trip.

Enoch has just finished a 25 day backpacking trip all over Europe which he enjoyed so much. He is now in the mountains of California serving in a children's camp as a photographer. He is healthy, strong, happy and is doing very well. PTL.

Also, we have almost fully recovered from giardia. We had gotten giardia from a bush church. We felt powerless, the stomach pain was very intense, and the diarrhea had been so terrible that we went to the clinic last Sunday. We were told that we had giardia, so we have been treating ourselves with medicine, and now we are feeling much better.

IV. PLEASE PRAY FOR...

  1. In July, we want to survey and work in one area to do Evangelism, T4T and Storying.

  2. Bible School in Kanyange Area (24-26, June) I heard from a pastor who is in Charge of their Bible School, that 26 Bible Students are already registered so I am so excited to see new students. Please pray for them to come on time.

  3. Daniel and Grace's health. It’s always hard to get back from the States and get used to water and other things.

  4. Pray for Aaron that he will have a good time with us and his ministry at the Kanyange Bible School; He will teach ESL to children and wives of leaders of church with Grace.

  5. Pray for our Baptist leader’s health: Pastor Justine Kamusaki, Lottie Mukabiko and Mwape Zimba.

Thanks you for your faithfulness and your prayers with us.

In Him,

Daniel and Grace Kim

We survived our second term!!!!
On the 6th of November, we will have served 178 weeks and 6 days in Zambia this term .  (Our first term we served around 200 weeks.)
So many things happened in this time...much good things, wonderful times like the miracles of changed hearts, but some heart breaking too.

September 2008

Dear Praying Friend,

By now, many of you know that our President Dr. Levy Patrick Mwanawasa(mwah-
nah-WAH-sah) died three weeks ago and he will be buried today (3rd of
August).  It was a shock to us all, and the nation is in grief.  The
government announced 21 days of national mourning and it was carried out in
prayers, Christian music and services.  In 90 days, there will be a re-election
and we all can help Zambia with our prayers.

In this time of grieving, we saw the light and sweetness of our Lord
through a young man's testimony.

His name is Alex Lumata, and he is a member of the Lufwanyama Baptist
Church.  Daniel has been training Personal Evangelism whenever he had a
chance, and Alex's pastor, Justin Kamusaki was one of the trainee's of this
program.  After many many hours of evangelism and training, Justin caught
the vision, and trained others in his church.  Through this, Alex was
trained.
On the 21st of August, Alex met a young man name Chembo on a road and
shared the Gospel with him.  Alex said that he approached the young man and
did exactly what he had trained for.  After sharing the gospel, he invited
the young man to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior and the Lord.  Chembo
did, and they went on their way.  That evening (around 8 pm) Chembo with
a small bag visited Alex at his home.  Chembo confessed that after he had
accepted Jesus into his heart, he had a lot of thinking, and he had to come
to Alex to discuss something.  He said that he deals drugs (Marijuana, da-
ga(traditional strong addictive smoke) and other things) but now he wanted
to stop it because of his change of heart.  Alex was able to encourage
Chembo with some Bible verses and they together burn the things he brought
with him in the small bag.  After the burning Chembo was more than happy
and free.

We've been praying for this kind of work.  Can you see it as we
see it?  Daniel--->Justin--->Alex--->Chembo.  We believe that this work
isn't done.  It will continue to happen with your prayer!

Please pray with us...
1.  Pray for Zambia.  For the upcoming election and for peace.
2.  From August, we have been working on the Race-course township with evangelism
and Bible studies (T4T) every Tuesday and Thursday.  Kawama (Kitwe) Baptist
Church is working on it with us in this ministry.  It is great joy in what we do.
Please pray with us that we will see much fruits and that a church will
started through this ministry.
3.  As you have prayed with us, pray for a strong leadership of our
churches.  The Bible schools for Lufwanyama Association from 22nd to 24th
of August was wonderful and the women's conference was great.  Thank you
for your prayers.
4.  We will do Evangelism and Jesus Film in the following areas and time.
Please pray that many will hear the Gospel and respond to it.
     6th and 7th of September : Chikabuke
13th and 14th of September: Kalomboshi
20th and 21st of September: Kantende
27th and 28th of September: Chombelwa

August 8, 2008
We went to Bimbe (Lufwanyama Association.) for Evangelism and a Jesus Film Showing last weekend.  We drove for two hours on a dirt road and on paths intended for people, not for a car, for one hour very slowly and carefully in the deep bush, and found the Baptist Church of Bimbe.  We were the first to visited the church from our mission, and it was also the first time the people of Bimbe watched the Jesus Film.  Houses were scattered far and wide.

Daniel and his team walked three hours to find two houses and met four people.  Three out of the four accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and the Lord.  Daniel said that he never walked that far to meet so few people, and yet Jehovah's Witness' presents were there deeply.  It made us very sad.  Through this evangelism program, 62 people heard the Gospel, and accepted Jesus as their Savior and the Lord.  Now we pray (and hope you are too) that Bimbe Baptist Church will revisit and help them to grow in the Spirit.

Please pray...
1.  From August, we will work in two townships (Race-course and Twatasha) with evangelism and Bible studies (T4T) every Tuesday and Thursday.  Kawama (Kitwe) Baptist Church will work with us in this ministry.  Please pray with us that we will see much fruits and that a church will started through this ministry.
2.  Many people have responded to the Gospel and rededicated their lives to the Lord.  Please pray that they will grow in the Lord steadily and strongly.
3.  As you have prayed with us, pray for a strong leadership of our churches.  We will have Bible schools for Lufwanyama Association from 22nd to 24th of August.  Daniel will teach "Panorama" Bible Study Course.  Please remember him in your prayer.
4.  As leaders of churches meet with Daniel for Bible School, the women of the Association will meet for a Women's Conference.  Grace and Bana Daka will lead this conference.  Please pray that all of us will be led by the Holy Spirit, the Word will penetrate in us, and that the time will bring changes in the spirit, soul, and body of us.
5.  We will do Evangelism and Jesus Film in the following areas and time.  Please pray that many will hear the Gospel and respond to it.
     6th and 7th of September : Chikabuke
13th and 14th of September: Kalomboshi

13 June 2008
For the past two months, we have had major problems with our internet provider, but now it's all back to NORMAL! We PRAISE and thank God for this communication route!

Enoch came home well and has been with us for more than a month now. He is enjoying his visit home!

15 volunteers from Lakeview Baptist church of Alabama came to Zambia, worked hard and wonderfully, and has gone home. (As I am writing...they are flying across the ocean right now.) You've only received last week the last prayer letter, and only had a little time to intercede for us, and yet your prayer's have enabled us to do great things. Through 15 volunteers, 3 different churches with their members, and our family, we have reached many many people by door to door evangelism and have listed 2555 people who have accepted of Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord!

You may think that we counted these numbers from the showing of the Jesus Film, but no, we didn't. The numbers came from one on one evangelism with the Roman Road tool. In the debriefing time, some of our volunteers shared the following:
"As my translator and I walked in a village, we saw a man drinking. We presented the Gospel and when he heard the gospel, he prayed the prayer of sinners. After that, he picked up the bottle asked us what he should do with it. I told him to get rid of it. Right there, he pour it out on the ground and told us that he will never drink again."
"We met 9 men in a place where they offered us the best seats and asked us to share the good news. We did and they all listened very closely, and all of them accepted Christ into their hearts.  It was very humbling experience."
"Using the outside toilet(long drop) was the most difficult thing."
"I am called to be a missionary but wasn't sure about it until I came here. Through this trip, God confirmed my call."
"Now I can witness! I have had wonderful experiences and tools which I can use effectively in witnessing even when I go back home."
"Through and In this trip, God gave me the holy boldness."
"Even though I heard a lot about Zambia, I didn't know what to expect. You really need to come and experience to know and understand.

Even though they camped out in the cold and dust, walked six to eight hours a day, shared the Gospel until their voices become horse, and some getting sick, we didn't hear them complain. All of them were joyful as in Phil. 4:4. We did "Broad Seed Sowing" this time and we know God will do the rest.

Please pray with us:
...that churches will do the FOLLOW-UP visits and Bible studies. Their task is so big and huge, they really need to rely upon God for this task.
...that the 15 people who came and worked with us will impact they're current surroundings with their new great experience and tool.
...that we will encourage our churches to continue witnessing without our volunteers.
...for Kansanta Baptist Church. We are going to do evangelism and show the Jesus Film this Saturday (14th of June), and worship on Sunday.
...for the last week of June.  We will take vacation and go to South Luwangwa Park with Enoch. Pray that It would be great family time.

Thank you so much for your prayer with us.

In Him,
Daniel and Grace Kim

2 May 2008
April went by very fast, and we are glad to tell you that it was a good month. :)
We did a lot of leadership training this month. We had three camping-out-in-the-bush in different places. Our favorite one was in Fikundulu. It was a leadership training program for pastors, leaders, and their wives of the Lufwanyama area. We were there for three days. Daniel put in around 18 hours of teaching to the men, and Grace put about 13 hours with the women. The men's most fun time was the testimony time, and for the women, it was question and answer time next to a cooking fire at night time. Oh, we had talked and talked... until our eyelid were so heavy, and it was so sweet to hear them open up to each other.

We are thankful that we've learned so much culture from this meeting. We are just so thankful that God has put us here to share this excitement with our brothers and sisters of Zambia. We are thankful that we can communicate with them even if it is done stutteringly and with so much laughter. We are thankful that our excitement can be transferred to the people here through time like above. We are thankful that we can just focus on our work on leadership and evangelism, not raising funds. (Thank you for your Lottie Moon Offering!)

One more thing to be thankful for! Our Stateside Housing is finally confirmed! We are going to go to Visalia, CA for our next Stateside Assignment from November this year to May next year. God prepared and orchestrated everything for our housing situation, and we prayed so much on this matter. Praise be to the name of God! Please celebrate this with us!

Please pray with us...
1. for a volunteer team who is coming to work with us from the 1st to 13th of June 08. (First names of the team: Danny(Team Leader), Bethany, Brooke, Jimmy, Lisa, Steven, Jason, Lindsey, Ashley, Jerry, Myrtle, Mac, and Rick). Please pray for God's providence, His guidance, His protection, and His power over this team.

2. We are praying that God will show us where we will work in the next 6 months for personal evangelism and for T4T. We have two towns we will survey next week. Please ask our Father for His guidance over this matter.

3. Enoch is coming to visit and live this summer with us! Pray that this time together will be sweet and that he will experience God strongly over this summer! He arrives on the 10th of May. Aaron will be staying at his school to work. Please pray that he won't be too lonely, but will be able to enjoy his work and his church.

Thank you for your prayers.
Thank you for your love for Zambia.
Thank you for your love for us.

In Him,
Daniel and Grace Kim

Apr. 2, 2008
Her name is Blessing's Mother (Bana Mapalo).  I met her in January 08 during one of evangelism Friday.  I was passing her house when my name was called (It happens often...) and I was invited to her house to share Jesus.  Blessing was only a few days old at the time when I met them.  It looked to me that the little house was shared between two adult ladies without the presence of a man.  I shared with them the Gospel and they graciously accepted the message and prayed the prayer of acceptance of Jesus' Lordship and His salvation upon their lives.  I revisited them a few more times, shared with them a few stories of Jesus, and encouraged them to follow Him wholeheartedly.  It seemed that they were growing in the Spirit and they were sharing what they've learn with others.  I was happy to see them and I enjoyed all the visiting I shared with them.  Then one day, I went to visit the same house, and I was ready to teach another story, but at the door, I was told not to come in.  I could tell that they were embarrassed and ashamed, but I was a bit confused.  I asked for an explanation, and that's when they had told me that they had medicine (amulet) inside the house and that I just couldn't enter the house.  I asked again why, and they told me that they needed it for Blessing.  I then asked if they trust God, they told me "Yes" for sure...but they still needed it.  My heart was broken that day.
They take everything in but do not throw anything away.  They choose to believe Jesus and yet still have to rely upon their old belief 's.  What a sad story we had.
I am not writing this to embarrass our sisters and brothers of Zambia.  I am writing this to ask and plea for your prayer.  This won't stop without prayers.  YOUR PRAYER.  Why don't you stop what you are doing right now to pray for Blessing's mother and many like her.  Pray for Zambia to see and trust the Lord who is our only HOPE.  Pray that our work will expose the Light to many people, and bring them to eternal peace from great fear they live in.  Pray that we will not grown weary of doing what we suppose to do.

Thank you!

In Him,
Daniel and Grace Kim

[Grace Kim's Story]
My husband, Daniel, and I have been working in Zambia for over 7 years now. I thank God for this opportunity to share what is happening in my life in Zambia with you. Our family moved to Zambia in the year 2000 as missionaries.  Before I came here, when someone asked me the question "Where are you from?" I had difficult time answering the question.  I was born and raised in Korea, and lived in the USA for 15 years....... but now I can answer that question easily, because Zambia became my home. I love Zambia, the people, and the work that we do here.
God sent me to Zambia not because He loves Zambians, but because He loves me so much! He has changed me, and He still does today.  He uses my testimony in a way that brings glory to Him. He gives us a fresh desire of love for the Zambians, makes us kneel down for them, and gives us a burden to share Jesus everyday.
Our work is focus on personal evangelism, PE training, teaching of God's word, leadership training, and strengthening churches. Daniel and I work together. When he teaches men, I teach women. When we go out for evangelism, we go in separate ways, but we cross paths often, because we are in the same village. (The attached picture was taken from one of our evangelism days.) He and I are best friends, co-workers, and great companions to each other. The strong relationship in our marriage has helped us through Enoch and Aaron's departure to university. Enoch and Aaron are happy where they are, doing great in their school, and adjusting well in the State life. Praise the Lord!!! :)
We can say all this because of God's grace and your prayer. I thank God for His sufficient grace each day, and for your faithful prayers. Thank you!

[Prayer Requests]

1. Please pray for a revival in Zambia. Zambia is a so-called "Christian-nation", and yet most of Christians are either sleeping or are staying as baby Christians.
2. Please pray that we will follow our Lord, not leading or demanding Him in our hurried plans.
3. Please pray that we will have joy over every person who responds to the Gospel.
4. Please pray that our work with churches will bear fruits of strong leadership.
5. Please pray for Humphry who became a new Christian a month ago through our ministry. He is walking with Jesus now. He has stopped drinking, started reading Bible, and witness to others with Daniel. He said His wife is in doubt about his conversion. Please pray that he will continue to walk with Jesus so that he will bring his family to his new Master. Pray that many people will turn their lives to Jesus through his testimony.

Thank you again for your faithfulness. We can be faithful, because He is faithful.
We love you!

The Kims' January 2008

2007 was wonderful with your interceding before our Father for our lives and mission here in Kitwe, Zambia.
We know you will be with us again this year, 2008.

Today, we want to share with you about a particular day of in a compound.  Follow us as we go down to the shanty compounds.  As we share the gospel, most of the dialogs are spoken in ciBemba.

As Daniel finds a good spot to park the car, he stops it very slowly because many children gather around to see what these 'ba-sun-gu' (the word means white men, but it is used on us time to time) are up to.  We pray for guidance and protection in a short prayer, and get out of the car.  Little children find smiles on our face, and that's the cue for shouting the question they know, "How are you?".  As we walk down to the path to the new place, we would answer "Fine, thanks, how are you?", but it never ends because that is the only phrase they want to practice on us.

Daniel finds a man sitting under a mango tree beside a hut, and says hi to him.  His name is Joe.  When Joe sees Daniel, he welcomes him by standing, brings him a small stool, and asks Daniel to sit.  They shake hands.  Daniel asks Joe if it is alright to talk with him about the good news.  Joe says that would be fine because God's word is welcome in his house.  Daniel then shares his testimony.  At the end of the testimony, Daniel asks Joe if anything like it has ever happened to him.  Joe would say things, and Daniel would notice the assurance of Joe's salvation is based on work rather then grace of God (Eph. 2:8)  Daniel shares the Roman Road and invites Joe to receive Jesus as his Savior and Lord.  Joe then says he would love to do that.  They bow their heads together and say the sinner's prayer.   After the sinner's prayer, Daniel would share how important it is to know and walk with Jesus in the new believer's life.  Joe listens with a sincere heart, and asks Daniel to come and teach him again.  Daniel promises to visit him again and goes to the next hut.  Just like Joe, many people welcome us with things to sit on, some would say they are busy, and some would run away before we get to them.  After 3 hours of meeting people, revisiting, telling bible stories, and praying, we would go back to our car always wondering if the car will be still there.  (small faith!)  :)

For days like this, we meet 10 to 20 (sometimes over 30) people who received Jesus as their Lord and Savior and at least one bible study group with Storying.  We take with us a Bible, pen and a small note book, a water bottle, few booklets  of John and Rome, few basic Bible study materials,  some pain pills, and a umbrella.  The umbrella is a very important item because the weather is either hot or rainy.

Pray with us that....
We will never loose our heart over this lost, so-called "Christian-nation" that most church-goers have believing in the work based salvation theory.
We will not be weary of the slow work of "Don't Take Them to Church, Make Them a Church" Church Planting Movement.
We will have joy over every person who responds to the Gospel.
Our work with churches will bear fruits of strong leadership.
Joe, Mumbwa, Humphry, Jared, Cosmos, Judith, Lungu, Mulenga, Levy, Katete, Rafael, and many others will follow Jesus as they made decision and prayed.  Right now Joe (His full name is Joseph Polela) studies Bible daily and has small bible study group at his house every Thursday.  Pray that people like Joe will become strong leaders to lead Zambian to Christ.

Thank you again for your faithfulness.  We can be faithful, because He is faithful.
We love you!

The Kims' November 2007

Thank you, praying friends!

Thank you for lifting us up to the Father who sustains us as we go out and share His word.

In the beginning of November, Daniel met Kingston  at the Musonda compound. He and his friends were sitting in a hut talking when Daniel saw them together. He went in and introduced himself and shared the good news with them. Kingston, Hudson, Brian, and Mwenda responded with sincere hearts and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior of their lives. When Daniel revisited them the next week, Kingston asked serious question for him being a drug dealer. He had been dealing drugs to young high school boys in the hut.  He said he wanted to live a clean life because he was with Jesus now. After Daniel shared his personal testimony, he counseled and prayed with him and left to go to another place to evangelize some more. On the third week that Daniel visited the place, he didn't see Kingston.  His friends said that he was now a bus driver, no longer a drug dealer!  God heard his prayers (why is it a surprise when things like this happen?! :)) and he has a new job!  Daniel saw him driving a mini bus one day in Musonda. Daniel didn't see Kingston anymore in the hut, and that is our praise!

We shared and lead so many people to Christ this November, we can't even count them anymore! It is truly harvest time...so many people have been prayed for Zambia and we are seeing the finger of God everywhere!

Continue to pray for...
    1.  The people who heard the gospel and received the message and that they will carry it out to others.
    2.  According to the T4T training, we need to see people begin to carry the Gospel to their people...but it isn't happening.  Please pray that God will change their hearts and they will obey Him.  We will be able to find men of peace (like Timothy and Lydia who will host a bible study group in his/her home and be a leader of the group) in Musonda and Mwaiseni compounds. Right now we have two small groups that we are storying but they still lack leaders.
    3.  Our mind, bodies, and souls to be strong.
    4.  Our work with legacy churches. We are working with them on weekends. We will be able to encourage and train them to start new churches through evangelism.

Thank you for PRAYing for Enoch and Aaron. They are doing super!

In Him,
Daniel and Grace Kim

October 2007

This month has been a wonderful but busy one for us. We evangelized, revisited; prayer walked, and met so many people in Musonda (Moo-son-dah) and Mwaiseni (moo-ah-ee-sany) compound. The total number of people who received the Lord as their Savior and Lord through our evangelism this month was 197. The number looks good, isn't it? :-) Our hearts are happy over their responsiveness, but also ached over their hesitance to take the next step. We pray that they will become a carrier of the good news to others as we nurture them with storying.

On the 9th of October, Daniel met with Green Phiri in Mwaiseni compound when he went there to evangelize. He was a member of a Covenant Church but didn't have the personal relationship with Jesus, so after he heard the gospel, he opened up his heart to Jesus with joy. When Daniel asked Green for prayer requests, he said to pray for him so he could stop drinking. Daniel prayed for him and left him with a story and a few bible verses. For three weeks now, he has been sober and is overjoyed with his victory in Christ. His family is very happy with him!!

We praise God for his goodness and His faithfulness. This month was a good one.

Now please pray with us for...

*       Our work that it will continue without loosing patience or hope.
* The people who heard the gospel and received the message that they will carry it out to others.
* We will be able to find men of peace (like Timothy and Lydia who will host a bible study group in his/her home and be a leader of the group) in both compounds we mentioned above.
* Our good health during the rainy season. (Grace just recovered from malaria).
* Our work with legacy churches. We are working with them on weekends. We will be able to encourage and train them to start new churches through evangelism.

Thank you so much for your mission through prayer. As we mentioned before, we can't do the "mission" without you.

In Him,
Daniel and Grace Kim

September 2007

Dear friends,

We came back from the States a couple days ago, and still in the process of jet-lag.  We had wonderful time with Enoch and Aaron.  Even though it was difficult and sad to say good bye to Enoch, Aaron, our families and friends, we were thankful in knowing that our God is faithful yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Praises

We had a safe trip to and from the States.  Considering the fact that we were traveling on 9/11, our trip was easy! We didn’t miss the plane, there was no hassle with over weighted luggage, and no lost bags.  PTL!
Enoch finished his first year of college with two thumbs up and is in his second year now!.
Aaron has just started his first year of college, already met many friends, and loves his school!
We had great time with many friends who support missions with their prayers and many other gifts.  (We have gained so much weight from the good food they shared with us!)

Prayer Requests

Continue to pray for our new project.  We are approaching our ministry a little differently then last seven years.  It involves a lot of storing in evangelism, training, and church starting.
Pray that we will be absolute in following God’s direction and guidance.
Pray that we will be sensitive to His lead.
Pray that we will be prepared for storing in local language (ciBemba).

Thank you for joining missions in Zambia with us through your prayers.  As we mentioned before, we can’t do this without your prayers.

With much love,

Daniel and Grace Kim

Praise God with us for His faithfulness!

* The ministry with the volunteers we had in June was great!   Here is a part of Daniel’s report on what happened in that time.
In the Last two weeks of June, I, Grace and two volunteers went to 5 different villages to do broad seed sowing through door to door evangelism during the day and showing the Jesus film at night.  With the Roman Road Gospel Story Tract in IciBemba I trained our nationals for an hour and went out for hut to hut Personal Evangelism. From 5 villages, 455 peoples made a profession of faith, and 9 of leaders memorized the Roman Road Gospel Story Tract in IciBemba through the training and field experience.  Around 2000 people saw the Jesus film in 4 different villages and many people received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord after the film. PTL!

* The Fikundulu Women’s Conference was amazing!
I (Grace) had a “fit” when I heard that my translator couldn’t go with us to Fikundulu. I just didn’t know it was God’s perfect plan.  Well, I have survived two days of teaching in IciBemba with mighty God’s power, and I also learned a great deal of many gifted leadership.

* Aaron graduated RVA on 14th of July.
Not only we were there for Aaron’s graduation, but also Daniel had a privilege of addressing the commencement at the graduation ceremony!  What an honor it was!  And the “preaching” was very well received by the graduates and others.

* Annual Mission Training Meeting
Sorry that we didn’t have time to ask you to pray for this, but it went very well.  Dr. Frank Page taught us through the book of Jonah and more, and it was great and the fellowship was even better!

Pray with us for…

1. Aaron as he spends his last three weeks in Zambia with us. Pray for good memories and good times.

2. Aaron for his new adventure to the USA.  He is going CBU (same as Enoch).
a Safe trip as we leave to the USA on 18th of August for three weeks.  We will come back on the11th of September.

3. Our new project.  After we come back from the states, we will do things a little differently then we are now.  It involves a lot of storing in evangelism, training, and church starting.   Pray that we will absolutely follow God’s direction and guidance.  Pray that we will be sensitive to his lead.  Pray that we will be ready for this on time.

Aaron graduated RVA 15 Jul 07!!!
We are proud and happy for him

February 14, 2007
His name is Shimutami (C-moo-tah-me).  He is almost 60 years old who had been working in a mine company all his life.  He used to ask his wife not to go to church, and if she really wanted to go, he would ask her not to take his children with her.  So, his children did not know Jesus while they grew up in his home.  Last year, he retired from the mine company and with his retirement money he bought a farm.  He moved into a hut where water is a 10 minutes walk to get to, and no power.  His children who were in school ages remained at his "town" house where they were born and grew up.  In this situation, he met a pastor who shared the good news with him.  Through him, he started to attend this little Baptist church on and off, and his wife was delighted about the change because she has been praying for her husband all her married life, which is over 30 years for him.  One day, the pastor of the little church moved back to his village, which is far away.  The people of the little church were crushed.  They don't have enough members who were strong enough to continue doing the church construction, which they were building by small mud bricks.  They stopped coming to church and went back to the wrong churches where they originally were before coming to this little church

One day not long after the pastor had gone back to his village we visited the church only to finding out that the building had collapsed and the people gone.  What a devastated sight!  Yet, two families were remaining.  One of two was the Shimutamis.  He looked embarrass about the church and its condition, and yet more committed.  He and other men wanted to keep the church going.  They wanted to have a basic Bible study to learn about what they have questioned all their lives, and to continue to grow up in the Holy Spirit.

After two months of Friday meetings with us, he has now almost finished a TEE book, learning to be disciple of Jesus, and is very exited about everything he has learned.  What a change!  His wife said that he did not want to miss a single lesson.  She said that it was a miracle!

We have many Shimutamis in Zambia.  They are young in Christ, and yet have heavy responsibilities to keep the church going.  They become leaders…!  We DO need to pray for them.  When they are struggling to stand firm in Christ, we need to encourage, help, push, and pull through with the power of prayer.

Won't you be with us in this wonderful work?

In Him,
Daniel and Grace Kim

(January 2007)
Hello and Happy New Years!

The training meeting we had in our home last December 2006 was great!  Daniel taught 9 leaders from Kawama church about 22 hours in two days (can you imagine???). They studied and studied with delight shown on their faces! No complaints but only joy told us how willing and teachable hearts they have!  After the meeting, one of them said how “fat” they are (and some of you may know that we African want to be “fat”) in physical and spiritual body. It was so wonderful to witness this event, and we now pray that this growing “fat” should continue and bring more fruits into their lives, family, and church.  Thank you so much for being with us everyday in prayer. Without your prayer support, we know that we don’t have any chance!

Please continue to prayer for us.
